Testing and acceptance
Build confidence through tests tied to the outcomes, roles and risks that matter.
QA teams, business testers and acceptance owners
Use several kinds of evidence
ADOM’s development workflow includes validation and review activities. The relevant checks depend on the application, enabled tools and target environment. Agree which checks are required for the engagement and inspect their actual results. A check that is disabled, skipped or inconclusive is not a pass.
Cover more than the happy path
| Test area | Example |
|---|---|
| Functionality | A request is created, assigned and completed |
| Validation | An invalid date or missing required value is rejected clearly |
| Authorization | A user cannot read or change another team’s restricted record |
| Integration | Unavailable services and duplicate submissions are handled |
| Accessibility | Keyboard and assistive-technology workflows are usable |
| Operational behavior | Recovery, monitoring and relevant load expectations are exercised |
Run business acceptance on a known version
Identify the application version, environment, approved dataset and test accounts. Give testers steps and expected outcomes, then record actual outcomes and evidence. Capture defects with enough detail to reproduce them. Retest corrections before closing the associated case.
Make the acceptance decision explicit
The designated acceptance owner reviews passed cases, failed cases, exclusions and remaining risks. They may accept the delivery, request corrections or approve a limited next step with conditions. Keep this decision separate from successful automated checks and from the technical act of deploying.
Example: an application can pass its build checks while a business report still uses the wrong definition of “open request.” Business review resolves whether the output means what the organization needs it to mean.
