The project lifecycle
Understand the decisions and evidence that move an ADOM project from an idea into operation.
Project teams
One project, several review points
ADOM supports a connected development workflow with planning, task execution, implementation review, testing and deployment activities. Treat each phase as a way to make the next decision clear. Completion of a task is different from acceptance of a requirement, and deployment is different from authorization to operate.
The lifecycle at a glance
| Stage | Work product | Decision |
|---|---|---|
| Define | Requirements and acceptance criteria | Is this the right outcome? |
| Plan | Approach, dependencies and task breakdown | Is the work understood and ready? |
| Implement | Application changes and review findings | Does the implementation address the task? |
| Validate | Test results, defects and unresolved gaps | Does the result meet the agreed criteria? |
| Release | Versioned delivery package and deployment plan | Is this version ready for the target environment? |
| Operate | Runbook, monitoring and support ownership | Can the responsible team sustain the service? |
Expect review loops
A project may return to an earlier stage. A permission test can reveal a missing requirement; a source-system constraint can change an integration approach. Record the finding and its effect on the scope, then review the revised work. This keeps rework visible rather than burying it inside a completed task.
Keep the evidence connected
For each important requirement, be able to identify its implementation, test result and acceptance decision. For each release, identify the version and environment that were reviewed. The format may differ by engagement, but the team should be able to answer what changed, why it changed, who reviewed it and what remains open.
